Special Events for the Coming Year

While the bulk of our Club meetings are centered around our weekly Sunday breakfasts and rides from George's in Deerfield, there are always a few special things that are done each riding season. We are very fortunate to have several experienced tour leaders in our membership. They consistently deliver itineraries and destinations that are once-in-a-lifetime riding experiences. In this section of our web site we call everyone's attention to the coming year.

May: Nashville, Indiana

Fred and Shelly

Fred and Shelly Brostoff lead a return visit to Nashville, IN with less time in covered bridges and more time spent riding in and about Nashville on this four day ride.

Fred's trips are known for their meticulous planning with surprise events thrown in for excitement and exercises in group decision making, e.g. no rider left behind, trivia quizes, etc.

Count on Fred to locate every restaurant serving chicken tenders while Shelly scouts out all the shopping venues.

June 10: Ride-To-Remember, 2010

Museum

This multi-day JMA event begins on Thursday, June 10 and goes through Sunday, June 13, 2010. The headquarters will be at the Double Tree Hotel in Skokie.

The "official" web site for the event can be found at:

http://ride2remember.com

Several side trips are planned, so go to this site for detailed event information and registration materials.

The Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center is located a short distance from the Double Tree, and is the focus of the official Ride-2-Remember. The ride will not conflict with our regular Sunday Ride from George's in Deerfield.

June 20 - 25: Around the LakeFreeds

Beginning at the Freed's cottage in Union Pier, MI this ride will average about 200 miles per day and will circumnavigate Lake Michigan. The pace will allow time for sight seeing and enjoyment of the natural beauty of the Michigan shore, the Straights of the Mac, and a scenic return to Chicago. Yes, you will have to spend an hour passing through Indiana, but you won't have to stop.

On second thought, you just may want to stay on the beech as this group did last year.

August 6 - 22: Park City, Utah

AndyAndy Frank leads scenic tour which includes the Black Hills as well as Park City. There are several fly and ride options for those interested in a shorter time frame for this 2+ week adventure.

As you may know, Andy is the Ride Coordinator for the Club and probably has a million miles racked up to his experience. Count on Andy to locate the best roads -- the kind that don't appear on many maps -- and a great itinerary for hotels and restaurants.

Andy has a loyal following, so sign up now.
